On Wednesday’s we RUN! That’s been the case since May for me. Since May, when my treadmill arrived, I mapped out my goals for the summer and got right to work! Hard to believe we are a week away from October! By now, you know running is my thing. It’s been my therapy for many years.
Ya Have to be SMART and STRATEGIC with Runs!
I consider myself a strategic and intelligent runner. I’m not the girl who hops on a treadmill when my eyes open and sprint like a pack of wolves are chasing me. Because I started from scratch with my running goals, I’ve been able to run harder and faster than ever. It takes a lot of humble pie to start again from ground zero with baby steps. I used to run anywhere from six to eleven miles on any given day, at great paces outside, mind you, all before Sasha was born.
Get In Your Head!
In the past almost seven years, I have not run outside. Running on the treadmill in the gym has been challenging too. Until now, I haven’t been able to get my shit together, to be honest. I was running, but not constant and not as strategic and smart as I could have.
Thanks To COVID
I thank COVID for motivating me to get my ass in gear. We all set goals for ourselves, and we all set intentions. We all love to hear ourselves speak. I also love to look back at my old runs as a way to torture myself. Since my treadmill is in my home and was quite the investment, I knew there was no reason or excuse for why I can’t run when I want.
Tunnel Vision and some Goals
Since May, I have been running three days a week. I was spacing out my runs every other day, so I could still focus on weights in between. It has worked beautifully. At the end of May, I started by running one mile and gradually worked my way up to six miles. I’ve also trained myself to run faster than I was almost eight years ago. It’s incredible at what you can accomplish when you put your mind to it. I am the chick who gets tunnel vision once I set my intentions and goals.
New Goals!
Now that I have accomplished my goals to get my legs used to the endurance of running, It’s time to switch up my runs. My new goal is to focus on speed and inclines.
I will do a post on the runs I have done from May through September, but for now, I’m going to share with you my NEW RUNS!
Here is Today’s Run:

I ended up running three miles. My time was 33:56. Not bad!
Since I was not tired after this run, actually felt amazing, I put together a great upper body workout. My workouts are geared towards running and endurance, but also to look defined and sculpted. My goal over the winter is to sculpt my arms and shoulders.
Overall, today was great. I felt strong, fast and at the same time, challenged! The whole workout and run took me one hour. Not bad!
I hope you’ll try this workout and let me know what you think!
